Like many places this year, the weather has been.....odd. We have had a lot of rain, not much sun, and unseasonably warm temperatures. So, what does that mean for the spring flowers (such as the tulips)? It means they are coming early!
How early? Well, that is a good question as of course it is all weather dependent. According to my good friend Engel from Bloemfontein Bergen (a pick your own tulips farm), tulips will be out by the end of March. I went for a little cycle around the fields yesterday (March 3rd) and they are still pretty small. But the earlier spring flowers such as the crocuses and the daffodils are already starting to make an appearance.
Cycling tours to see the tulips are of course available to book online, but you can also give us a call or email us if you would like to see the tulips at a different time. I go out frequently to make sure I know the flower conditions and where the best places are to see them!
The tulips may still be growing, but the crocuses and daffodils are about to go crazy!
